Real-Time Collaboration
How ScryRPG keeps your party in sync with real-time updates and transaction history.
Last updated: February 21, 2026
Party Synchronization
Connected web views receive party updates in real time. Discord command views are snapshots: reopen the command or refresh its panel to fetch current state.
What Syncs in Real-Time
- Party container changes (items added, removed, moved)
- Shop inventory updates
- Loot claims
- Member status (online/offline)
- Transaction notifications
No More Confusion
“Wait, who took the rope?” is solved forever. Everyone sees changes the moment they happen.
Personal vs Party Containers
ScryRPG distinguishes between personal and party containers:
Personal Containers
- Owned by your character
- You, the party GM, and managers can manage them
- Party members can view non-private contents; private character containers are visible only to their owner, party operators, and admins
- Examples: Backpack, Belt Pouch, Quiver
Party Containers
- Shared with the whole group
- All members can add/remove items
- Examples: Party Chest, Wagon, Camp Supplies
Giving vs Taking
You can give items to other players, but you cannot take from their personal containers (unless you are the GM or a manager). This prevents griefing while enabling cooperation.
Transaction History
Every party action is logged:
| Event | Tracked Info |
|---|---|
| Item added | Who, what, when, which container |
| Item removed | Who, what, when, quantity |
| Item transferred | From whom, to whom, what |
| Shop purchase | Who bought, what, for how much |
| Loot claimed | Who claimed, what |
Why Track Transactions?
Accountability: Know who took the party funds.
Fairness: Verify loot distribution was equitable.
Story: “Remember when Grimgar accidentally sold the artifact?”
Source Tracking
ScryRPG tracks where actions originated:
| Source | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Web | Action from web interface |
| Discord | Action from Discord bot |
| API | Action from external integration |
This helps when debugging or understanding party activity.
Online Presence
Party members can see who is currently online:
- Green indicator: Online now
- Gray indicator: Offline
- Last seen timestamp
Useful for knowing when to expect responses or planning sessions.
Party Pages
Party Home
The Party Home page is your orientation hub when entering a party. It shows:
- Party net worth and member summary
- Deployed shops and active loot previews
- Recent activity feed
- Online presence and relevant subscription status
Party Activity
The Party Activity page provides a full, searchable history of everything that has happened in the party. You can filter by category (inventory, shops, loot, membership), search for specific events, and export the activity log as CSV for session recaps or record-keeping.
GM Dashboard
GMs and managers can use the GM Dashboard to deploy shops, drop loot, manage identification, and review party metrics.
Scrying Reveal
When a GM identifies a mystery item for the party, all online members see a Scrying Reveal animation. The item’s true properties are unveiled in a dramatic reveal that the whole party experiences together in real time.
Missed a Reveal?
If you were offline when a reveal happened, you’ll see a catch-up notification the next time you visit the party.
For more on mystery items and identification, see the Identification Guide.
Shared Inventory Links
Use /share in Discord to get your account’s public, read-only inventory link. Each visit resolves your current active Discord character and their non-private containers, so it reflects current data rather than a saved party snapshot. Switching that character changes what the same link shows. Party Settings provides invitations to join the party, not public party-inventory links.
Multi-Device Support
Your session syncs across devices:
- Start on your phone during commute
- Continue on laptop at home
- Changes appear everywhere instantly
You can be logged in on multiple devices at the same time. All sessions stay in sync through real-time updates.
Inventory Actions and Plans
Manual personal and party inventory actions have no monthly action quota and do not spend AI credits. Plans instead limit active characters, hosted and joined parties, concurrent shops, and monthly loot and encounter deployments. Changes made through your familiar can spend AI credits. See the Subscription Guide.
Best Practices
For Players
- Use party containers for shared resources (rope, rations, gold)
- Keep personal gear in personal containers
- Check transaction history if something seems off
For GMs
- Create multiple party containers for organization (Loot, Supplies, Treasury)
- Review transactions before sessions to catch up on changes
- Use shops/loot instead of manual item distribution
