Overview
Every item, shop, and loot table in ScryRPG can become a physical card. Collect the cards you want in the Card Tray, open the print workspace, and print a sheet of cut-and-play cards for your table. You can also save the same layout as a PDF or download high-resolution PNG images. It is free on every plan.
Printed cards carry ScryRPG branding and an optional QR code, so a player can scan a card to pull up that item online. Hand out a magic sword card after a boss fight, give players a deck of the shop’s wares, or print a stack of loot cards before a session.
No design work required
Cards are generated from your existing content. Artwork, stats, rarity, and descriptions are already laid out. You pick what to include and how to print it.
What you can make
- Printed cards you cut out and hand to players at the table
- A PDF to print later, send to a player, or archive (via your browser’s Save as PDF)
- PNG images of a single card, or the whole batch as a ZIP
The Card Tray
The Card Tray is a running collection of the cards you want to print. It works like a cart: as you browse ScryRPG, add items to the tray and they wait there until you are ready. The tray lives in your browser, so it survives navigating between pages and refreshing.
When the tray has cards in it, a small tray button appears in the bottom corner of the app. Open it to jump straight to the print workspace, or clear it if you were only experimenting.
Adding cards to the tray
You can add to the tray from almost anywhere content lives:
- Marketplace item, shop, and loot pages
- Your party’s shops and loot tables
- Collections and a character’s inventory
- The View Card showcase on any template
Adding the same item twice does not create a duplicate. Instead it raises that card’s copy count, so you can print more than one.
Tray limits
The tray holds up to 500 cards, and each card can be set to print between 1 and 99 copies.
The print workspace
Opening the tray takes you to the print workspace at scryrpg.com/app/cards/print. Every card in your tray is shown as a preview. From here you can:
- Show or hide individual cards to fine-tune the batch without removing them
- Set the number of copies for each card
- Remove a single card, or clear the whole tray
- Add more items with the item picker (requires being signed in)
The header keeps a running count of items, total cards, and how many pages the current layout will produce.
Choosing your layout
A row of controls at the top sets how the sheet looks:
| Control | Options | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Poker, Half-page | Poker is standard playing-card size and fits more per page. Half-page prints larger, easier-to-read cards. |
| Format | Duplex, Single, Fronts | Duplex lays out fronts with matching backs for double-sided printing. Single keeps everything on one side. Fronts prints card faces only. |
| Theme | Light, Dark | Light is the default and is best for printing (clean and ink-friendly). Dark is handy for on-screen preview. |
| QR | On, Off | Toggles the scannable QR code on each card. |
Printing physical cards
Click Print All to open your browser’s print dialog, then print as usual. A few tips for clean results:
- Print on cardstock rather than regular paper for cards that hold up at the table
- For double-sided cards, choose the Duplex format and enable two-sided printing in your printer settings so the backs line up
- Keep the Light theme on to save ink and keep text crisp
Double-sided alignment
Duplex format mirrors the back row so that when your printer flips the page, each back lands behind the correct front. If your first test sheet is misaligned, try switching between flip on long edge and flip on short edge in the print dialog.
Saving a PDF
There is no separate PDF button, and you do not need one. In the Print All dialog, change the destination from your printer to Save as PDF (every major browser offers this). You get the same layout as a file you can print later, send to a player, or keep for your records.
Downloading images
Prefer digital cards? You have two options:
- One card: use the download button on any card in the workspace to save it as a high-resolution PNG
- The whole batch: use the ZIP button to download every visible card as PNG images bundled in a single ZIP file
The ZIP includes one image per unique card. Copy counts apply to printing, not to the digital files.
QR codes and sharing
When QR codes are on, each card includes a code that links back to that item’s page on ScryRPG. A player can scan it with their phone to see the full details online. It is a simple way to bridge the physical table and the app, and it doubles as a way for new players to find ScryRPG.
Supported game systems
Card printing works across every system ScryRPG supports, including D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and Draw Steel. Each card renders the stats and details appropriate to the item’s system, so a 5e magic item and a Pathfinder 2e consumable both print cleanly.
Who can do what
| Action | Who can do it |
|---|---|
| Open the print workspace | Anyone, including signed-out visitors |
| Add items while browsing | Any signed-in user |
| Add items with the in-page picker | Any signed-in user |
| Print, save as PDF, download | Anyone with cards in the tray |
The Card Tray is tied to the browser on the device you are using, not to your account, so it does not sync between devices.
Tips
Before the session

At the table
- Hand out item cards as players find or buy them
- Let players scan the QR code to read the full item online
- Keep a printed deck of your shop’s inventory for in-person browsing
Common questions
Is card printing free? Yes. Printing, saving as PDF, and downloading images are free on every plan.
Do I need an account to print cards? You can open the print workspace without signing in, but you build your deck by adding items as you browse ScryRPG, and the in-page item picker requires an account. Creating one is free.
Which game systems are supported? All of them, including D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and Draw Steel. Cards show the details appropriate to each item’s system.
Can I print double-sided cards? Yes. Choose the Duplex format and enable two-sided printing in your browser’s print dialog. The backs are arranged to line up with their fronts after the page flips.
What size are the cards, and what paper should I use? You can choose Poker (standard playing-card size) or Half-page (larger). Cardstock gives the best results for cards you will handle repeatedly.
Can I save cards as a PDF? Yes. In the Print All dialog, set the destination to Save as PDF.
Can I download cards as images? Yes. Download a single card as a PNG, or use the ZIP button to download the whole batch at once.
Can players scan the QR codes? Yes. With QR codes enabled, each card links to that item’s page on ScryRPG so players can scan and view it on their phones.
Is my Card Tray saved to my account? No. The tray lives in your browser on the current device, so it will not appear on a different device or browser.
How many cards can I print at once? The tray holds up to 500 cards, and each can print between 1 and 99 copies.
