Discord Bot Guide

Command reference for the ScryRPG Discord bot. Manage characters, inventory, shops, loot, lore, spells, and encounters from your game chat.

Last updated: October 8, 2026

Overview

The ScryRPG Discord bot brings your campaign into your game server. Add items, check inventory, trade with shops, claim loot, roll dice, and ask your familiar from the same party record the web app uses.

Session audio starts in the web app

The Discord bot does not record voice sessions. Upload a recording from the web app, review the transcript, and send the approved transcript through Import.

Getting Started

  1. Visit the Discord Bot page to add the bot to your server.
  2. Select your server and authorize the requested permissions.
  3. Run /help for an overview or /inventory to open your inventory.

Your account is created when you start using the bot. To connect an existing web account, open Settings > Connected Accounts in the web app and choose Connect Discord.

Reading the Reference

Type a command in Discord and fill in its named options. In the tables below, <value> is a placeholder and [option:<value>] is optional. Do not type the brackets. Discord’s option picker supplies supported choices and validates lengths and numeric limits.

/party and /character use an action: option. Their actions are not slash-command subcommands. Commands such as /show, /loot, /library, /campaign-log, and /encounter require one of the subcommands listed below.

Command views are snapshots. Reopen a command or refresh its panel to fetch current campaign state; messages do not continuously mirror the web app.

The party panel provides collaboration controls appropriate to your role. Party inventory, invitations, settings, and membership actions are panel workflows, not additional registered slash subcommands.

Shops & Trading

Ask about the party’s inventory or lore, or describe a change you want. Follow any confirmation controls in the reply. Read-only help is included with fair-use protection; changes can spend AI credits. Server-channel /ask replies are private to you and do not automatically create a thread.

  • Wrong character or party: use /character action:switch or /party action:switch and choose the intended record.
  • Item not found: try a partial name with /item name:heal or search templates with /find search:potion.
  • Overloaded: inspect /encumbrance, manage containers through /inventory, or ask your GM to review the party’s settings.
  • Missing shop, loot, or encounter: check your active party and ask the GM whether the record is revealed.
  • Bot not responding: check its channel permissions, try another channel, and check the community server for outage announcements.
